I just finished waking up, showering, and will be heading into work soon. I thought I would do the normal check your email activities before leaving as well, when I came acoss this article that totally conincides with Fast Food Nation that I finished yesterday.  Basically people in Britain stopped buying McDee's on a regular bases because of the on going problem with obesity.  So McD is actually taking steps to regain customers by, "new choices such as fresh salads, free-range eggs, semi-skim organic milk and fruit", and "reducing its portion sizes."  Now if we could just get them to do that here or something instead of making super super super size - an entire weeks worth of calories in one sitting.

I think if the response to the new McD menu is overwhelmingly positive (i.e., McDonald's makes money off it) then they will try it here as well. One thing I picked up from reading FFN is that McDonald's is neither good nor evil, they just go where the money is. If there's money in making people fat and unhealthy, then that's what they do. If there's money in recycling, reducing packaging, and minimizing the risk of mad cow disease in their beef, then that too is what they do. They were able to use their immense buying power to make their cattle suppliers certify the feed when government regulations could not.
