[livejournal.com profile] sarahmichigan and I had a loverly day filled with the Holocaust museum and walking around downtown Plymouth. The day was filled with everything I like, museums, walking, quotes, magnets, and caramel (I'm attempting a licorice caramel. Wish me luck).

Based on where I seem to be at this moment in my life, these two magnets seemed really cool and they had quotes on them, so I bought then and now I share them with you.

peace. it does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. it means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

In the same store, I also saw this quote that I thought was groovy too:

Friendship isn't a big thing - it's a million little things.

Question: Name the top 4 most respected papers in the country.

1) New York Times
2) LA Times
3) Wall Street Journal

Team A in fear of 3rd X says: Washington Post (which was also my answer)
Team B gets excited and says: USA Today

The real answer: The National Enquirer.

My jaw drops and I say WTF? *sigh*

In other news...I just got my first good night sleep since Friday. Woohoo. Oh...was that almost a week ago. Oy vey! I got 12 hours of sleep though. I went to bed at 8 p.m. last night. It wasn't straight through, but it was good. I feel rested. We'll see if I can sleep tonight. Wow.

Last night, a few people I work with and such went to Josephine's for their "Last Wednesday" meals. Basically they pick a French region and create a special menu and you get a 6 course meal out of it. It was yummy! This time was French Province, which is where I stayed when I was in France. Good stuff. Anyway, we couldn't do dinner till 8:30 because I had to drive out from Ypsi to make it on time. The place is open till 10 on Wednesdays, so I figured that would be plenty of time. At the end the waitress told us to stay as long as we wanted because they would be cleaning up. The chef wandered by a few times to talk to us and said the same thing. As we decided to leave, better we looked at our clocks, it was an hour after closing. While leaving we say goodbye to the chef who is wandering by and say sorry for staying so late. He said it was fine and said a few months ago there was a party of 15 people who sat at a long table and they stayed way after closing, and were such a fun group. I got a smile on my face and said THAT WAS ME! He apologized for not remembering me. That was fine since I had shorter straight hair that night after getting my hair cut. And I've lost another 10 lbs or something. Anyway, he was saying that he tells people the story of our visit all the time because he doesn't mind that people stay to talk while they're cleaning up. I thought that was awesome!! I love that place!

I was looking for something and didn't find what I was looking for, but I found this video. It's pretty inspiring about a guy with a dream who built a place in Pittsburgh to educate the poor. It rocks!

My friend EM put me hip to a new website. It's called 100 Words Every Day. The premise is that you write exactly 100 words every day about ANYTHING at all. The only catch is that it has to be exactly 100 words. Nothing more and nothing less. At the end of the month, if you write every day, your stuff will be published on the website. It sounded interesting and I may actually start it Saturday.

If others are interested, please go to http://www.100words.com.

Now I just need to come up with a good pen name. *sigh*

If it were a bit colder outside, I'd think that Hell had frozen over. haha!!

I actually went to bed last night at or slightly before 11 p.m. I actually fell asleep without a lot of trouble and I woke up at 6 a.m. on my own. I got up to go to the bathroom and wanted to go back to sleep, but I couldn't fall back to sleep. I didn't need to be up till 7:30. So I decided to get up and I got in a half hour walk on the treadmill. I watered my plants, did my dishes, made coffee, and now I'm eating my oatmeal. And it's Monday. I've NEVER been this productive this early in the morning ever! Crazy! If only I did not have to go to work, I'd say it was a perfect day!

muhahahaha!!

Although I keep having weird dreams about my family. It's driving me nuts.

Happy President's Day!

There was some miscommunication with our prof for how the class this Thursday was supposed to happen. We were supposed to have a focus group (many/some/all of us are participating in a research study as part of this class) and then work on our projects in groups. Well there are 13 people in the class and I know at least 4 of them thought we just weren't having class at all. So last week I asked the prof if we were having class. She said yes and was shocked that the question was asked. Apparently since most people thought we weren't having class, they made other plans. Some are going out of town, etc. She canceled class.

What does this mean for me? I GET TO SLEEP IN TOMORROW!!!! I do not have to set my alarm and I get to sleep until I wake up. YAHOO! And I also do not go to work. That's an added bonus if you ask me. It's the little things really.

And tomorrow will be the one year anniversary of accidentally dropping my cell phone into the toilet. Yeah...I said it...toilet. It's actually a damn good cell phone too. It's almost two years old and still holds a good charge. As in, I've never had to buy a car charger for it.

Oh...and for those not getting any, does it ever feel like every THING is getting some when you're not?
Image cut b/c it's HUGE. No worries, it's safe for work )

This guy who sits next to me at work started a music blog. He's into more obscure music (his words, not mine), so if you're interested in checking out something you may not have heard of before or want to find out if you agree or disagree with his opinions if you are familiar with the music, check it out. I'm just sayin'...

It reminds me of that car ride at Cedar Point. The old one that no one ever goes on anymore. It's the one where the car is attached to a track and every time you try to drive outside the track it knocks you back where you are supposed to be. That is what driving tonight was like. Every time my car seemed to go where it wasn't supposed to, it was jerked back where it needed to be. Yahoo for that! I did get home safely, and that is good too.

Later: a post on the past year and a look into the new year.

Does sitting by a nice cozy fire, with a cup of hot tea/chocolate, and a book you can read for hours even when your eyes grow red and dry and you look sort of scary sitting there with your insomniac appearance? Then you fit this category perfectly! You love the power of the written word and it's eloquence; and you may like to read/write poetry or novels. You contribute to the smart people of today's society, however you can probably be overly-critical of works.

It's okay. I understand.

So I go to log into my online course and I get this error:

You are currently using Firefox 2. This browser is not compatible with our system.
Our site currently supports the following Web Browsers:

Windows:
IE 5.5 (supported)
IE 6.0 (recommended)
IE 7.0 (supported)
Netscape 7.1 (supported)
Firefox 1.x (recommended)
Firefox 2.0 (supported)

So, I'm no computer geek, but doesn't this say that I'm using Firefox 2 and that at the top it's not compatible, but at the bottom it says that it is?

Not to mention that I've been using Firefox for the last year with this program and it hasn't had a problem before.

I hope it works itself out. I'm just sayin'.

In other news, the little kid in the apartment below me no longer bugs me b/c my neighbor next to me got a kid in the last week or so. I'm not talking newborn. By the sounds of the shrieks and I do mean shrieking, screaming etc, it's probably around 2. The TV can not drown this one out. Still better than the dog, but not by much.

The good news is that when I fall asleep I am really asleep.

The bad news as always is that it takes me too long to get there.

It's been cooling down, and I can't fall asleep if I am cold. The last two nights I've put socks on to warm up my feet, so I can fall asleep. I wake up in the morning and my feet are nekkid. I have no recollection of how that happened. But it makes sense as I don't like to sleep with anything on my feet. So yahoo for deep sleep.
rossja: (Default)
It was good stuff.

I didn't get a lot of sleep as I couldn't fall asleep last night, but I woke up around 10 a.m. I got to talk to [livejournal.com profile] jtane online for a bit, which was nice because I hadn't talked ot him in awhile. I got to talk to Chapo, EM, and LEK from work that day, so that was nice. I talked to my family. I got my hair cut, and then I met NC picked me up (another girl I work with) and we met up with people at Josephine's in Ferndale.

Let me just say that it is the coolest place EVAR! Seriously! It is the best French food I've had since being back in the states almost 8 years ago now. We had appetizers of Cajun shrimp and another one of scallops. I tried someone's French onion soup, which was seriously the best soup I've ever had. I got the seafood crepe. It had shrimp and scallops with a newburgh sauce and a buckwheat crepe. To DIE FOR. Then as a birthday treat the chef sent me out a raspberry liquor shot in a dark chocolate thimble shot glass. To finish off the meal, I had a crepe with nutella, bananas and whip cream. It was AWESOME! Not to mention the fact that the chef actually came out and chatted with me a bit. He was totally cool and kind sexy for an older gentleman. And the wine was really cool. We had a bottle of white and a bottle of red and it was yummo! So to recap, if you live in MI or visit MI, I would HIGHLY recommend checking out Josephine's Creperie & Bistro in Ferndale.

The only thing better than the meal was that I was surrounded by people who care about me. That made it worthwhile. Chapo, LEK, EM, and NC from work came. Then there was [livejournal.com profile] nevik_roc, Dewey, [livejournal.com profile] schmise, [livejournal.com profile] aerospcgrl, [livejournal.com profile] mcniadh, [livejournal.com profile] puggleville, [livejournal.com profile] earthfiregirl, [livejournal.com profile] madkingludwig, and [livejournal.com profile] physic_phoenix. It's very cool to be loved.

So I mentioned a few weeks ago that I lost all of my cable. Which I did. I had 3 fuzzy channels. I don't have all the cable channels I had before, but now I have more and it's not fuzzy. Crazy. Ponderous. Wow.
