Well I decided to take the day off today to get better. I guess I kinda feel better, but my body is just not right. I can't explain it, but as I have a rather intimate relationship with my body, I know it's just not right. I've been sleeping a lot and that has helped a bit here and there. The drugs are about to wear off, so now I don't feel right. ugh! This coming from someone who doesn't like to put lots of drugs into her system. It seems to be masking and not helping and that sucks a lot.

In other news, it appears that N&E are going to be putting in the sump pump themselves in 3 Saturdays as I have been informed. As we all remember, all my worldly possessions are in the basement. E suggested that I get old sheets to put over things. I am slightly amused at how this is my problem to solve and not theirs. I also have a feeling that if I don't do it, they will just plow through the concrete and not care that things are going to get junked up with the dust as he said it's not cool. What's also interesting is that he only seemed concerned with my couch and computer. I also have a papazon chair, an entertainment center that includes a stereo, dvd player, and their vcr. As well as my bookcase, all my boxes, and my table and chair set. Oh yeah and I have a treadmill as well.

So I guess my question is whether or not old sheets would be enough? If they are a) does anyone have some I can borrow or what not? or b) would it just be easier to buy plastic to put over it and if that is the case, does it need to be heavily taped down. I mean how "fun" is this concrete dust stuff?

I'd go for painting dropcloths, personally. They cover more space than sheets and are easier to clean up afterward. Get the super-cheap ones at a hardware store.

Concrete dust is fairly "fun". I'd buy the plastic, or borrow tarps if you know somebody that has tarps. Use it to wall off the area where the sump pump is going in, from bottom of the ground floor to the the floor of the basement.

You should stress to them, that they don't want the dust to be free in the basement, because it will work it's way into the furnace system, and from their into their child's lungs.

Putting in a sump pump is one of those things that amateurs should not DIY, in my opinion.

I don't disagee with you, but it's not my house. :) I think he can do it, I just don't think that he puts enough forethought into things sometimes. eeks!

But I did pass along the suggestion and he likes the idea. :)

I'd also have the furnace off whilst the install was going on, and then after the install, wash the furnace filter.

i have blue tarps if you would like to borrow them but i am not sure if they are long enough to cover ceiling to floor but it is something i guess.
