The sound of the wind rustling through the trees. Which is sometimes followed with the sound of the waves of Lake Superior crashing against the shore with the smell of a campfire in the distance.

Tonight it was just my front porch, no dogs barking oddly enough, the sound of the wind rustling through the trees staring up at the sky at the big dipper. Only interrupted by the sounds and lights of cars passing by and the people next door as my neighbor was having a small gathering. The temp was right. The feel was right. I almost feel asleep on my porch. That would've been interesting. Waking up to a billion mosquito bites and odd looks from the paperboy. Welcome to suburbia.

In other news: Spent the day at my rents. Niece was off with her other aunt. My nephew was having a good time playing with his dad and my bro's girlfriend. Actually sat down and had a long conversation with my dad. Probably longer and more indepth than we've had in awhile. It was good. I'm sure it was a good father's day gift for him as well. Got to spend time talking to my mom as well sans kids. Doesn't seem to happen very often these days for a variety of reasons.

Then I headed home, let the dogs out, fed them, and met Dewey, [livejournal.com profile] schmise and [livejournal.com profile] aerospcgrl at the movies to see The Lake House. Yes it had Keanu in it, but I will say that I liked the concept of this movie better than I did the book, "The Time Traveler's Wife", which btw apparently Jennifer Anniston and Brad Pitt bought the rights to the book to make a movie out of it. I'm assuming before the divorce. I wonder what will happen to it now. And based on the things that bugged me about that book, didn't really happen in this movie, so I didn't feel the need to kick anyone's teeth out. :) I'm just sayin'. And that probably doesn't make sense without explaining further and ruining the movie and the book for that matter.

That sounds like a good idea. I didn't know the film was based on another until we got there. And it was a way better remake than that horror movie with Sarah Michelle Gellar. :)

Hmmm...not sure if it's Japanese. I was thinking about it and the title they credited was Il Mare, which appears to be a 1962 Italian that was remade into Siworae in 2000, a Korean film.

Sleeping on the porch probably would have been nice, minus the bug bites. It's been nice out at night, especially, lately.
